ODB- Got Your Money (NSFW obviously, that is unless you work at OC)
A couple of weeks ago we thought our share drive, hard drive failed. We run weekly backups, so it wasn’t terrible, terrible but we would have lost a couple days worth of work. Luckily, we were able to recover the hard drive and go about our merry way.
This scare put Jimmy C into action though. We now have second office server running Ubuntu backing up our share drive nightly. We are also going to start using rsync to run nightly backups of production sites.
In general, getting this second Linux server in the office is really getting the dork juices flowing and is going to be the launching pad for future improvements.
The office is closed for the Fourth of July. No OCHFWD today. :(
